Serait-ce cet Homme-Autre se dépossédant de lui-même, créant, se décréant, laissant hurler son mental ? Dans un monde "de masques" se mettre à nu semble une nécessité vitale pour Firoz Ghanty. "Mon Corps/Moi mis à nu" se veut une expérience publique qui sera sans doute plus crue pour ceux qui regarderont que celui qui veut pousser un cri de colère. L'artiste n'est pas à sa première interrogation expressionniste. Son projet sera visible pour le public du 14 au 30 août à la Maison Ghanty à Beau-Bassin. Arianna Cziffra, artiste et psychanalyste, Catherine Servan-Schreiber, illustratrice, Pierrot Men, Yves Pitchen, photographes, entre autres, s'associeront à cette exposition.

Des ballerines mauriciennes se sont distinguées le week-end dernier lors du Concours de danse régional français qui s'est tenu au Théâtre du Tampon à la Réunion. Hip-hop, danse contemporaine et d'autres styles étaient permis. Les Mauriciennes ont choisi la danse classique pour défendre le drapeau quadricolore.

Le Musée du Dodo inauguré

Il ouvre ses portes pour le bonheur des Mauriciens. Tant attendu, le Musée du Dodo a enfin été inauguré vendredi après-midi par le ministre des Arts et de la culture, Mahendra Gowressoo, au Natural History Museum à Port-Louis. L'exposition permanente permettra enfin aux étudiants, adultes et touristes de mieux connaître l'histoire du dodo à Maurice ainsi que l'histoire du pays qui est étroitement liée au dodo.

Rukaiya Dooreemeah : L’écriture, sa thérapie

Rukaiya Dooreemeah, auteur du recueil de nouvelles «Sorrow, Happiness and Determination» est comme l’araignée qui tisse patiemment sa toile. Cette portlouisienne engouée des langues, rêvait d’être enseignante ou journaliste. Mais il y a 20 ans, elle n’a pu faire ni l’un, ni l’autre. Elle a docilement intégré la Fonction publique, sans toutefois jamais perdre son rêve de vue. Dans peu de temps, elle devrait d’ailleurs obtenir un diplôme en journalisme.

Philippe Gentil, Musicien Et Compositeur : Hymne à la joie

Sa musique est devenue hymne, symbole gravé pour l’éternité dans l’histoire du pays. Allègre octogénaire, Philippe Gentil petit fils du photographe Gabriel Gentil dont il évoque le souvenir, parle de sa vie pétrie de musique et s’inquiète du manque de culture musicale des jeunes musiciens. Ce trompettiste fou de Louis Armstrong, de Glen Miller, cet homme qui fit découvrir Henri Salvador aux Mauriciens, a gardé la simplicité et l’émotion juveniles. La petite musique du coeur a gardé intacte sa joie de voir valser les notes qui construisent une vie.

Le souci de l’excellence imposerait à chacun de faire en sorte de parler parfaitement une langue qui n’est pas nécessairement la sienne. La parler et l’écrire parfaitement. Certes, un minimum d’effort doit être fourni pour éviter, autant que faire se peut, les «accidents grammaticaux et lexicaux». Pour autant, doit-on s’attendre à ce que chaque Mauricien parle un français parfait ? Ou écrive un anglais sans fautes ?

Douceur grave des propos, mais aussi parole arc-boutée comme flèche prête à jaillir. Il parle de l’île comme on parle d’une patrie qui peut, à la fois libérer et étouffer. La liberté se porte à l’intérieur. Passeport européen sous le bras, sécurité matérielle assurée par l’aile protectrice de la France, n’est-il pas plus facile de parler de son identité ? Daniel Maximin pense que l’indépendance politique n’est pas une panacée et qu’il faut quelquefois se méfier des Etats.

"Intérieur Nuit'' de Jean-Baptiste André au CCB

Le Centre Charles Baudelaire débute ses activités culturelles avec le spectacle de Jean-Baptiste André. Intitulé ''Intérieur Nuit'', le spectacle est prévu le mardi 29 janvier à 20 heures au théâtre Serge Constantin, à Vacoas. "Intérieur Nuit" est un spectacle solo conjuguant les arts du cirque, le jeu d'acteur et la danse avec les technologies de l'image et la musique électronique. Un spectacle intime autour de l'équilibre et du trompe-l’oeil. La pièce trace la vie d'un homme esseulé, errant dans un espace fermé, chambre de bonne ou cellule de prison. Il se renverse pour mieux effacer les repères et jouer avec les perspectives.

L'ancienne prison de Port-Louis ou un voyage dans le temps

Plus d'une vingtaine de plasticiens ont envahi l'ancienne prison de la capitale, située à proximité de l'immeuble Renganaden Seeneevassen, afin de proposer l'exposition ''Time : Mauritius Ten Years Later'' dont le vernissage a eu lieu vendredi dernier. Les diverses oeuvres sont accessibles au public jusqu'au lundi 14 de 11 à 16 h. L'initiative du projet revient à Manou Soobhany, artiste mauricien qui a le soutien d'un groupe d'amis artistes, tous membres d'associations spécialisées dans des rencontres artistiques.

Musée de la Photo: un désastre annoncé ?

En construction, l'imposant building de la Garden Tower a laissé chuter, jeudi vers 18h, des panneaux de vitre de 500 kilos sur le petit Musée de la Photographie adjacent. Outre les impressionnants dégâts matériels causés à ce bâtiment riche de deux siècles d'histoire, c'est à son contenu, des archives photographiques et visuelles uniques, patiemment assemblées par le couple Bréville, qu'a été porté un coup conséquent. Et si certains choisissent de voir là un simple "accident de chantier", il ressort néanmoins comme le point culminant d'une lutte qui oppose, depuis près de deux ans, les deux parties. Où "développement" et patrimoine sont à nouveau opposés.

Peinture-Passion : Karo et les rastas

Pétillante blonde aux yeux azur. Des boucles d’oreilles et un bandana vert, jaune, rouge. Karo affiche les couleurs : celles des rasta. Ses peintures aux accents insulaires se nourrissent de cette passion pour la culture rastafari. Le tournant est consommé : les commandes commerciales ont laissé la place aux peintures plus personnelles. Pour un projet culturel plus large, encore en gestation.
