The Tamil Union and the Federation of Tamil temples in collaboration with the Ministry of Arts and culture have celebrated the feast "Aadi Padinettarm Perukku", Saturday, riverside Ebony Belle-Rose. Ramalingum Maistry, mayor of Beau-Bassin/Rose-Hill, Kadress Pillay and other dignitaries were present.

Many couples are found along the river to renew the "tÓli." The "tÓli" is a jewel that the husband attached to the neck of his wife the day of her marriage as a sign of love. The young couple in traditional clothes Kistnasamy Tamil made his first Aadhi. The feast is celebrated every year in Mauritius and in India during the mid-July to mid-August. It takes place by the sea or river.

Sivaligum Seeven Arasen, president of the Tamil Union of Mauritius (UTM), addressed several topics during his speech. He asked that gives the name "Kaaveri Solei" the river Ebony. This because the river water Kaaveri, located in Tamil Nadu, has been paid. This was possible thanks to Logannaden Sockalingum who has made a little water on this river in Mauritius.

The president of the Union also wants to promote Tamil language and Tamil culture. He hoped, moreover, that for the next electoral reform "the Tamil community is represented." The UTM also blown its 55 candles this year, he said. The association will organize a series of activities such as essay writing, quiz and "Murugan Iseiyoum Paadaloum," a singing competition.

The women's wing and the wing of the union young Tamil accompanied by the orchestra Sargam acted following celebrations. Members of the Federation of Tamil temples have proposed songs and dances. The youth wing of the UTM urges the public to donate blood, Saturday, August 9 from 9 am to 16 pm, instead MargÚot to Rose-Hill.
