Four years ago, I discovered, in Trou d'Eau Douce on the east coast of Mauritius ,
self-catering beach bungalows in Mauritius (in Mauritius we tend to call everything bungalows and villas) called Cilaos, a family business run by Belall and Sarah.
This apartment and studio complex is extremely clean, and much to my surprise very cheap. Starting at low season rate of Euro 23,-* per night for a studio to Euro 35.- per night for a duplex bungalow (ground floor) 2 bedrooms, bathroom, dining room and kitchen with balcony from the master bedroom and living room permitting you to appreciate the sun rise whilst "breakfasting", a totally breath taking experience! The east coast can get quite windy, in the winter months (June – Sept), but a paradise for wind and kite surfers.
